A glance at the Menu will tell you that this is a place where variety is acknowledged but not at the expense of quality – the range of dishes incorporates traditional pub classics like Fish and Chips and Hampshire Horseshoe Gammon but also includes enough choice for the discerning diner to find something they will enjoy. We feature locally sourced game, according to season, and even the starters menu includes our rich and sumptuous Poachers Terrine which we serve with toast and a fruity orange and celeriac marmalade.
Those who appreciate a fine steak will be spoilt for choice here as they choose from the range of grilled British “24 day hung” 8oz steaks, sirloin or rib eye.
Amongst the other dishes on offer are the chef’s fish pie comprising of freshly sourced salmon, smoked haddock, cod and prawns, all topped with a creamy mash; a trio of local sausages and a host of other dishes. The Specials board also changes daily.
Those visiting the Deer’s Hut on a Sunday will be pleased to see the inclusion of a traditional roast option. There are always vegetarian options and children are catered for with their own menu.
The whole experience can be brought to a satisfying finish in true British style with a choice of what can only be described as “classic puds – sticky toffee pudding and Crème Brulee” or a very interesting cheeseboard comprising Driftwood Goats cheese, Thomas Hoe Red Leicester, Peakland Blue style Stilton and Stony Cross Mature Cheddar – all served with fig chutney and Carr’s water biscuit.
When it comes to wines, our list is something we are justifiably proud of and contains many of the finest bottles that ever accompanied a great meal.
If wine isn’t your tipple, there’s always the matter of fine beers and we always have locally produced real ales on offer.
If you are planning a celebration or special occasion, then we have a separate dining area that can be reserved for parties of up to 40 guests. There is also a very popular outside dining area and acres of land for you to walk your four legged friends. Read Less…
